DENIM STYLE

This week I am going to give you some information on denim. Denim is such a popular fabric and it has remained popular through the many trends of fashion that come and go. There is one item of clothing that has given denim such demand and that item is jeans. Jeans have been in style for years, before designer jeans and now with designer jeans.

The definition of denim is a sturdy cotton twill fabric, typically blue, used for jeans, overalls and other clothing. This definition from Webster’s dictionary gives insight as why denim has remained so popular. According to The History of Jeans, denim comes from a sturdy fabric called “Serge de Nimes” initially made in Nimes, France hence “de Nimes”- denim. The article states that Weavers of Nimes tried to reproduce the cotton corduroy that was famously made in the city of Genoa in Italy but with no luck but denim was created. The article also states that jeans were named after a city in Genoa, Italy where cotton corduroy called jean or jeane was manufactured. The jeans we wear were originally invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss.

Jeans are a fashion item that most if not all women have in their closets. They can be dressed up or down and are sold in all price ranges. Most everyone has a favorite pair of jeans that fit like a glove.  With lycra being added to most jeans it makes the fit even more comfortable but watch out for weight gain because lycra will expand with it.

I have put together some denim outfits that l hope you like. Please share why you like denim or something about your favorite pair of jeans.

Thanks for sharing and reading my blog!
